Its systems are far deeper and more interesting than those of Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles, whose 8-hour campaign mocked the player with the achievement: “That was easy.” It does more justice to the legacy of the Harvest Moon series than Harvest Moon’s own creators have. There is always a ton to do, and the focus on building is a refreshing change. My initial 90 hours in Portia have been engrossing. Portia is threatening to take up a similar amount of my time. I’ve spent an ungodly 255 hours tending my fake farm in Stardew, even after declaring I didn’t have time for it. My Time at Portia is one of the better indie Harvest Moon clones to be released in recent years, featuring a unique setting and a fully 3D world, but it can’t escape being compared to Stardew Valley, the pixel-art darling that rejuvenated the genre.
